David Potter, the founder of Psion, had one request for his logo: that it should represent software. Which posed the question, what is software?

After analysis, research and debate our conclusion was that it is a product which allows you to manage and manipulate digital information.

Re-arranging the heiroglyphics at the top of the logo gives the letterforms below. A graphic interpretation of a carefully reasoned idea, it's still powerful more than 25 years after it was first created.

The Psion logo is on display at the V&A in the gallery of 20th Century design.
